About Jeff:

Jeff Montgomery attended university at Arizona State where he studied Aviation, and also

earned his commercial and flight instructor certifications. A year after college Jeff joined the US

Navy and served for 20 years as a Naval Officer and Aviator. During his time in service, he

served on 5 aircraft carrier deployments. On his final deployment he was given Command of an

EA-18G squadron which deployed on a 9 month, around-the-world cruise supporting 6

consecutive months of combat operations in Iraq and Syria.

Jeff currently works as a developmental test pilot and program manager for Test and Evaluation

Squadron 31 and the F-18 Integrated Product Team. He has been flying for almost 30 years

while logging over 5000 hours military and civilian flight time and completing over 600 carrier

landings. In his free time, he has pursued many outdoor passions, including ocean sea

kayaking, road biking, and back-country skiing and mountaineering.

Jeff’s professional background combined with his passion for the outdoors and endurance

sports have provided him an opportunity to develop a unique perspective on the concepts

associated with Risk Management. His many adventures combined with his unique perspective

on risk have inspired him to create presentations and facilitate discussions on the topic of risk

management to both recreational and professional ski touring groups.
