How does mental health affect decision making and risk mitigation in the mountains? How does our brain process trauma? What role does adrenaline seeking play in processing life’s challenges living in a mountain town? What are questions we can ask to support our peers who are struggling, during and after a traumatic event?
Please join us for this final event in our Backcountry Zero Winter Risk Management Series!
This workshop will start with a presentation from local TIPS therapists Ryan Burke and Lewis Smirl about the neuroscience of trauma and stress injuries and then offer space for participants to break into some psych first aid scenarios to practice moment-of and post-incident response. Ryan and Lewis will largely leverage tools from our friends at the Responder Alliance which we encourage you to check out if you are unfamiliar with their work.
$20 (please email maddie@tetoncountysar.org for full or partial scholarships — we do not want cost to be prohibitive for any attendees)
